Criminal - Fraud

The Defendant was charged with VAT fraud which HMRC had assessed at in excess of £150,000. He admitted to fraud but disputed the assessment and I was instructed to review the detailed HMRC calculations and assumptions and I was able to reduce the assessment to below £50,000

Criminal - Payroll fraud

I was asked by a company to examine their payroll costs which they believed were higher than they should be and I uncovered a six figure fraud being perpetrated by their payroll administrator who subsequently served a custodial sentence

Civil - Loss of profits

The owner of a successful contracting business suffered major injuries when his motorcycle was involved in a traffic accident. Liability was accepted by the other party’s insurance company but a major part of the claim was the loss of profits and resultant income from the fact that he was unable to continue to run the business as actively as before and this was a matter of dispute. I was instructed to assess the actual losses, future potential losses and capital loss and as a result a settlement was achieved.

Family - Divorce

I have been instructed to value companies where a shareholder is involved in divorce proceedings to help the court decide on the financial arrangements between the parties

Family - Child Maintenance Service

A parent stopped  paying maintenance for their child and I acted as Client Representative for the other parent in dealings with CMS and I identified undeclared income and other financial interests. I also represented the other parent in the appeals process.
